Ontario has hired an engineering firm to look at possible improvements to Highway 138, a single-lane highway connecting Highway 417 with Cornwall, Ont., that has been the site of several fatal crashes over the years.
The study will look at ways the highway could be improved and will involve public consultations, giving local communities and other stakeholders the chance to have their say during the planning process.
The study area includes the portion of Highway 138 from Highway 401 to Highway 417. The project is being implemented in accordance with the approved planning process for a Group ‘B’ project as outlined in the Ministry of Transportation of Ontario’s (MTO) Class Environmental Assessment for Provincial Transportation Facilities.
As part of the project, Parsons has also developed a dedicated website to keep stakeholders and members of the public apprised of the study and its progress.
We will regularly update the website with major project milestones, forthcoming opportunities for public involvement and other pertinent details. It will also give access to publicly available reports and other project materials.
The initiative is intended to provide more insight into the assessment process as Ontario looks at possible ways to improve Highway 138.
