Amazon Air has added a new Boeing 767-300F freighter to its fleet, introducing Odyssey, the company’s first factory-built 767-300F to enter service in dedicated Amazon Air Cargo colours.

The aircraft marks another step in the development of Amazon’s airfreight operation as the company continues to expand beyond supporting its own e-commerce network and increases its presence in the wider commercial cargo market.

Odyssey joins two sister aircraft, Zenith and Soar. Zenith carries Amazon Supply Chain Services branding, while Soar retains the company’s earlier Prime Air identity. Odyssey, by contrast, features the Amazon Air Cargo livery associated with the company’s growing third-party freight business.

More than 100 freighters worldwide

Amazon Air now operates more than 100 freighters and more than 250 flights every day.

Its network stretches across North America, Latin America, Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia, giving the operation a broad international footprint.

The fleet includes Boeing 737s and 767s alongside Airbus A330 freighters. Amazon Air does not operate all of the aircraft itself, with flying services carried out by multiple contracted airline partners under ACMI arrangements.

Those operators include Air Transport International, ABX Air, Sun Country Airlines, Hawaiian Airlines, 21 Air, ASL Airlines Ireland, AmeriJet International and Quikjet.

Atlas Air, one of Amazon Air’s original operating partners, ended its role with the operation in May 2025.

From Amazon’s own network to commercial cargo

The expansion of the fleet comes as Amazon increasingly looks beyond the cargo generated by its own retail operations.

The company began developing its dedicated air network in 2016 under the Prime Air name before rebranding the operation as Amazon Air.

In 2024, Amazon took another step by launching Amazon Air Cargo, opening its airfreight infrastructure to external shippers and freight forwarders.

The move changes the role of Amazon’s air network. Instead of being used primarily to transport packages generated by Amazon’s own e-commerce business, the infrastructure can increasingly serve outside customers and compete in the broader airfreight market.

With Odyssey now joining the fleet in Amazon Air Cargo colours, the company is signalling its continued expansion into third-party air cargo while maintaining a large-scale freighter network supporting its global logistics operation.
