Etihad Cargo has appointed AVIAREPS as its Cargo General Sales Agent (GSA) in Uzbekistan, strengthening its commercial presence in the Central Asian market following the launch of direct Abu Dhabi–Tashkent flights.

The appointment will see AVIAREPS support Etihad Cargo’s cargo sales, reservations, customer service and local market development activities in Uzbekistan. The partnership is expected to create new opportunities for freight connectivity between Uzbekistan, the United Arab Emirates and Etihad Cargo’s wider international network.

Etihad Cargo, the cargo and logistics arm of the UAE’s national airline Etihad Airways, connects major trade markets across Africa, Asia, Australia, Europe, the Middle East and the Americas through its Abu Dhabi hub.

AVIAREPS to lead local cargo development

Under the new agreement, AVIAREPS will promote Etihad Cargo’s air freight services to freight forwarders, cargo agents and customers across Uzbekistan.

Its responsibilities will include cargo reservations and booking administration, quotations, tender support, customer and post-sales services, sales visits and market development. The company will also distribute approved schedules, tariffs and promotional material while providing regular sales reports and market intelligence to Etihad Cargo.

AVIAREPS will additionally act as a local point of contact for customers and cargo agents, coordinate with ground-handling partners when required and support shipment-related administrative activities.

The company will also assist with the implementation of electronic Air Waybill (e-AWB) processes in the Uzbek market, supporting the digitalisation of cargo documentation.

Strengthening an existing partnership

The appointment further expands the long-standing relationship between AVIAREPS and Etihad. The company already serves as Cargo GSA for Etihad Airways in two countries and as Passenger GSA across 18 markets in Asia and Europe.

AVIAREPS has recently expanded its activities in markets including Romania, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, Armenia and Georgia, while maintaining partnerships across the Baltic and Nordic regions and the Philippines.

Frederick Overton, Global Head of Cargo at AVIAREPS, said the launch of the Abu Dhabi–Tashkent service creates significant potential for cargo development between Uzbekistan, the UAE and Etihad Cargo’s broader network.

The company plans to leverage its local market knowledge, cargo expertise and relationships with freight forwarders and cargo agents to support Etihad Cargo’s commercial expansion.

Uzbekistan becomes a new cargo opportunity

For Etihad, the addition of Uzbekistan represents another opportunity to expand its network and strengthen connectivity through Abu Dhabi.

Grant Kemp, Regional General Manager at Etihad, said AVIAREPS’ local presence, cargo sales expertise and customer relationships would help support the airline’s commercial development in the market.

With direct air connectivity now in place between Abu Dhabi and Tashkent, the new GSA agreement positions both companies to capture additional cargo demand and develop new trade flows between Central Asia, the UAE and destinations across Etihad Cargo’s global network.
