SANTOS, BRAZIL — Singapore-based Pacific International Lines (PIL) is expanding its presence in Latin America with the opening of a new office in Santos, Brazil, strengthening its local network and bringing its services closer to customers in one of the region’s key maritime markets.
The Santos office becomes PIL’s second location in Brazil, following the establishment of its São Paulo headquarters in August 2024.
The new operation forms part of the shipping line’s broader strategy to strengthen its physical presence across Latin America, support regional trade and develop closer relationships with customers.
Strengthening customer support in Brazil
PIL said the Santos team will focus on building stronger customer relationships and creating additional opportunities to deliver value to businesses and communities across the region.
The company’s expansion comes as it continues to develop its regional network and increase its ability to respond to the needs of customers operating across Latin American trade lanes.
“Guided by our commitment to putting the customer first, PIL continues to strengthen its regional presence by opening new offices,” the company said, adding that the Santos team would focus on creating new opportunities and delivering greater value to customers and local communities.
A growing Latin American network
The opening in Santos follows several other PIL expansions across Latin America.
The company has recently established new offices in Peru, Chile and Guatemala, extending its regional coverage and strengthening connections with customers and partners.
Brazil remains particularly important to PIL because of the scale of its maritime trade and the strategic role of ports such as Santos in international supply chains.
By establishing a dedicated presence in Santos, PIL can further strengthen its proximity to customers and support its operations from one of Brazil’s most important port centres.
A symbolic inauguration
The opening ceremony also incorporated a Singaporean tradition. Ana Bighetti, General Manager, and the Santos team introduced pineapples into the new premises, a practice that PIL said symbolises blessings and prosperity for a new space.
The ceremony marked another step in the company’s regional development as PIL continues to build its Latin American footprint.
With offices now established in Santos and São Paulo, alongside its growing network elsewhere in Latin America, PIL is positioning itself to provide more localised customer support while strengthening its role in the region’s maritime trade.
