Arrive Logistics to Add 1,000 Employees as Mubadala Takes Majority Stake

The freight brokerage plans to accelerate hiring, technology investment and expansion across cross-border, LTL, produce and other freight services while keeping its focus firmly on North America.

Arrive Logistics is preparing for a new phase of expansion after Mubadala Capital agreed to acquire a majority stake in the Austin, Texas-based freight brokerage.

The companies announced Thursday that Mubadala Capital, the global alternative asset management arm of Mubadala Investment Co., has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire a majority equity interest in Arrive. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Existing investors ATL Partners, Lead Edge Capital and others will retain meaningful stakes in the company, while Arrive’s management team will roll significant equity into the transaction. The deal is expected to close in the fourth quarter, subject to customary closing conditions.

For Arrive, the investment is expected to provide additional resources for hiring, technology and the development of new freight services.

“We have already begun to increase our hiring for sales, modes, and technology,” Matt Pyatt, CEO and co-founder of Arrive Logistics, told FreightWaves in an email. “We will hire 1,000 new team members in 2026 with even more growth slated for 2027 and beyond.”

Arrive currently employs more than 2,000 people across 10 North American locations, including Toronto and Guadalajara, Mexico. The company serves 5,500 customers through a network of 10,000 carriers.

Founded in 2014, Arrive has grown into one of North America’s largest truckload brokerages, moving freight across the United States, Mexico and Canada.

Broadening beyond truckload

The new investment is also expected to help Arrive move beyond its traditional truckload operations.

Pyatt said the company plans to build teams and capabilities covering produce, cross-border freight, open-deck operations, less-than-truckload shipments, partial shipments and its Universal Trailer Pool.

Arrive also intends to increase spending on risk management and cargo-theft prevention.

“Growth only matters if customers can trust the capacity and service behind it,” Pyatt said.

For the brokerage, the objective is therefore not simply to increase its scale, but to reinforce the operational infrastructure supporting that growth.

Technology at the center of the strategy

Technology will be another major focus of the investment.

Arrive plans to accelerate development of its proprietary ARRIVEnow transportation management system, which automates workflows throughout the freight lifecycle.

The company said additional technology spending is designed to improve service, raise employee productivity and reduce its overall cost structure.

Lead Edge Capital, which first invested in Arrive in 2018 and will remain an investor, also sees artificial intelligence as a potential driver of the company’s next stage of growth.

“AI represents a generational inflection point for businesses like Arrive, which has the proprietary data, the platform, and the talent to deploy it at scale,” Lead Edge Managing Partner Nimay Mehta said in a statement.

Mubadala Capital said Arrive’s ability to continue expanding through different freight cycles was a key factor behind its investment decision.

“Arrive has continuously grown load volume and market share through multiple freight cycles and without compromising on service or culture,” said Sam Merksamer, a partner at Mubadala Capital.

Mubadala Capital is a global alternative asset management platform that manages, advises and administers more than $600 billion in assets through wholly owned businesses and strategic partnerships. Its wholly owned core alternatives businesses manage and invest more than $60 billion.

North America remains the priority

Despite the global reach of its new majority investor, Arrive does not plan to shift its geographic focus away from North America.

“Our plan is to build the largest and most reliable truckload network in North America,” Pyatt said.

Mexico and Canada will remain important elements of that strategy. Arrive sees opportunities to expand both cross-border and domestic freight capabilities in the two markets as customers increasingly seek integrated transportation services covering all three major North American markets.

“This transaction is about expanding our reach, service offerings and capacity within the market we know,” Pyatt said.

Day-to-day operations to remain unchanged

The arrival of Mubadala as majority investor is not expected to bring major changes to Arrive’s daily operations.

“On a day-to-day basis, this is business as usual for Arrive and our partners,” Pyatt said.

Customers and carriers should continue to experience the same service and operational approach. At the same time, employees could benefit from additional opportunities as the company increases hiring and develops new capabilities.

“The goal is not to change what defines Arrive, it is to invest more aggressively in the people, capabilities and service model that have driven our growth for more than a decade,” Pyatt said.

Why it matters: Mubadala’s investment gives one of North America’s largest freight brokerages additional capital to expand its workforce, technology and multimodal services. At a time when scale, automation and integrated cross-border capabilities are becoming increasingly important competitive advantages in third-party logistics, Arrive is positioning the new investment as a way to strengthen its North American network while broadening the services it can offer customers.
