Port terminal operator DP World is shutting down its standalone digital logistics platform, SeaRates, a published report said.
SeaRates founder Sergey Dzhashytov wrote in a LinkedIn post that he had been receiving questions about the “discontinuation of SeaRates digital services,” as companies using the platform were looking for alternative solutions. His public profile shows he was operating director at DP World until March 2026 and founder and chief executive of SeaRates.com until May 2026.
By Thursday, the SeaRates website was still up and running, and neither the platform nor DP World’s website had any official announcement about the alleged shutdown.
SeaRates is a third party marketplace and freight booking platform offering various digital logistics services, including freight quotes, ERP, shipment tracking, rate management and white-label products.
SeaRates was bought by DP World in 2020, which said the deal was “an important step in expanding our activities beyond ports and terminals and strengthening our position in digitally enabled, end-to-end logistics.
The potential shutdown has also sparked questions over the future of the Digital Freight Alliance, the global forwarder network established by DP World. It is not clear from the announced decision how this might affect the organization and its members.
The move may signal a change in DP World’s technology strategy, as the company might focus its digital investments more on platforms that are more closely linked to its core logistics business, terminal operations and cargo flows.
