International development organization Transaid has launched its 2026 Christmas Appeal, asking businesses and individuals to help shape a safer and brighter future for communities across sub-Saharan Africa.

The campaign has two closely interlinked priorities, improving road safety and improving access to essential health care. Transaid, through its work with partners in Ghana, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania and Zambia, supports professional driver training, helps develop new driving standards and promotes sustainable, community-led transport solutions that enable people to access vital health-care services.

The organization’s activities in the last year have yielded real results in all areas of the region.

Transaid and its partners trained more than 8,000 professional drivers and riders in Ghana, Uganda, Tanzania and Zambia. In Kenya, more than 5,300 long-haul truck drivers were screened for eye problems, and 1,280 pairs of spectacles were distributed.

In Ghana, nearly 4,000 drivers were trained on road safety and 208 bicycle ambulance riders, custodians and Community Health Volunteers received refresher training.

It is only through the continued generosity and contributions of the transport and logistics industry that these programs are possible – and in turn this enables Transaid to continue and expand its work across sub-Saharan Africa.

Transaid has created three corporate donation packages for its 2026 Christmas Appeal, aimed at recognizing and celebrating the contribution of the business in the transport and logistics sector.

Companies and individuals can also support the campaign by buying festive Transaid-themed greetings cards or by making a direct donation.

Transaid is once again calling on the wider transport and logistics industry to support the role that safer transport systems can play in connecting communities with the healthcare and essential services they need through its Christmas Appeal.
