Martin Schulze, CEO of Bonn-based BusinessCode GmbH, has been appointed to the Federal Economic Senate (Bundeswirtschaftssenat) of the German Association for Small and Medium-sized Businesses (BVMW).
The appointment recognizes Schulze’s entrepreneurial achievements and his long-standing commitment to digitalization, innovation and the development of Germany’s small and medium-sized business sector.
Founded in 1999, BusinessCode has built its reputation by developing customized software solutions for companies. Over the years, the Bonn-based company has expanded its activities and evolved into an internationally active technology partner.
Schulze has been responsible for the company’s strategic direction as CEO since 2018. The spin-off of BlueBox Systems also led to the creation of an innovative IT subsidiary, whose digital solutions are now used across the global air freight logistics industry.
“Being appointed to the Federal Economic Senate is a great honor for me and, at the same time, an incentive to actively contribute the perspectives of innovative SMEs to the economic policy dialogue. Especially in times of profound change, Germany needs strong small and medium-sized companies that take responsibility and help shape the future,” Martin Schulze said.
He also described the appointment as a personal honor and as recognition of the work carried out by the entire BusinessCode team.
The BVMW highlighted Schulze’s entrepreneurial career when explaining its decision to appoint him. According to the German Association for Small and Medium-sized Businesses, his professional path demonstrates innovative strength, reliability and an ability to combine technological expertise with entrepreneurial responsibility.
The organization also emphasized Schulze’s view that digitalization should not be treated as an objective in itself, but rather as a tool for generating tangible economic value. In the BVMW’s assessment, this approach reflects the spirit of the Federal Economic Senate.
The Federal Economic Senate is considered one of the BVMW’s most important leadership bodies. It brings together around 400 leading representatives from business, academia, politics and society to develop ideas and initiatives aimed at supporting a strong and future-oriented economic policy.
Together, the members represent companies generating approximately €120 billion in annual revenue and employing more than 1.2 million people. The group includes numerous global market leaders as well as hidden champions from Germany’s SME sector.
Membership of the Federal Economic Senate is not open to applications. Individuals are appointed exclusively through nomination, with membership intended to recognize outstanding entrepreneurial achievements and exceptional commitment to Germany as a business location.
Schulze’s appointment therefore places his experience in technology, digitalization and SME development within a broader economic policy network, while also giving BusinessCode a voice in discussions concerning the future direction of Germany’s business environment.
