NEW WESTMINSTER, B.C. – Around 150 leaders from the building sector, policy-makers and other stakeholders are expected to gather in New Westminster on Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2026, for a major symposium and awards event focused on accelerating the transition from fossil fuels to electrification.
Momentum 2026 will be held at the Anvil Centre and serves as the signature conference of the Building to Electrification Coalition (B2E), a program operated by the Zero Emissions Innovation Centre.
The 2026 edition marks five years of B2E’s efforts to advance building electrification throughout British Columbia, according to a release.
B2E brings together 280 organizational members from across multiple sectors. The coalition now finds itself at a critical stage as it works to cut building emissions while addressing rising energy demand, as well as the costs associated with new construction and retrofits.
The focus is increasingly shifting from setting electrification targets to delivering implementation at scale, the coalition said.
The event will examine several issues shaping the future of building electrification in B.C. and beyond, including the forces driving the move toward electrified buildings both in British Columbia and globally.
Participants will also explore emerging technologies and opportunities that could help accelerate electrification, along with workforce development, retrofit strategies and financing opportunities for building electrification projects.
Momentum 2026 will also look at progress on the priority actions identified in the BC Building Electrification Roadmap 2026.
A keynote presentation will address how BC Hydro is balancing the challenges and opportunities ahead as it works to support growth, affordability and the province’s future energy needs.
The event will conclude with recognition for six outstanding people and projects that are helping advance building electrification in B.C. through the coalition’s awards program.
