With its parent Jiangsu Port Group pushing its international expansion in key Belt and Road Initiative markets, Jiangsu Ocean Shipping has formally established new branches in Vietnam and the Middle East.
The move is also accompanied by a strategic cooperation agreement between Jiangsu Port Group and DP World to increase the group’s presence in the Middle East and enhance its global shipping and logistics capabilities. The partnership will include a wide spectrum of activities such as port operations, the creation of new shipping routes, cargo security, and the provision of integrated logistics services.
A main objective of the agreement is to connect Jiangsu Ocean Shipping’s Middle East services with DP World’s extensive global terminal network. The two companies will build direct shipping routes between Jiangsu and the Middle East and offer integrated, one-stop logistics services to local exporters.
Jiangsu Port Group is also seeking closer cooperation in South-east Asia. The group also signed memoranda of understanding with Vietnam’s Dinh Vu Port to promote joint development of port operations and logistics activities across the region.
The opening of the two branches represents a structural change for Jiangsu Port Group’s overseas operations. Previously, the international reach of the company was managed through a fragmented network of overseas agents, but it is now moving towards a more formalised model based on direct, on-the-ground operations in key markets.
With these initiatives, Jiangsu Port Group aims to strengthen its regional connectivity, extend its shipping network and provide more integrated logistics services linking China with Middle East and South-east Asia.
