PSA Vietnam is expanding its footprint in the country through a new partnership with Lach Huyen International Logistics & Industrial Park (LHF) to develop a major deep-sea container terminal at Lach Huyen Port, in Hai Phong.
The two companies will jointly develop and operate four container berths with a combined annual capacity of 4.5 million TEUs, creating one of northern Vietnam’s most important logistics hubs. Located in Hai Phong, the country’s largest northern seaport and one of its fastest-growing industrial centres, the project is expected to support rising trade volumes and attract further investment to the region.
Work on the first two berths is due to begin before the end of the year, with completion scheduled for 2028. The remaining two berths will be built during a second phase, with the entire project expected to be finished by 2035.
The new terminal will complement PSA’s existing logistics operations in northern Vietnam, including its inland container depots in Bac Ninh. By connecting inland cargo centres directly with international shipping routes, the company aims to create a more seamless logistics network capable of moving goods more efficiently from factories to global markets.
PSA also expects the development to strengthen Vietnam’s access to both established and emerging trade lanes, while offering cargo owners, freight forwarders and shipping lines more integrated multimodal logistics solutions.
Nelson Quek, Regional CEO for Southeast Asia at PSA International, said the investment underlines the company’s confidence in Vietnam’s long-term growth. He noted that the country has become one of Southeast Asia’s most dynamic economies and said the new terminal will reinforce PSA’s regional network while improving supply chain connectivity across international markets.
For LHF, the partnership brings together global port expertise and strong local knowledge. General Director Nguyen Vinh Hau said the project will help develop world-class port infrastructure, encourage new investment and further establish Vietnam as a key player in global trade and logistics.
