Toyota Achieves Record Global Sales in 2023

In 2023, Toyota Motor’s global sales, inclusive of subsidiaries Daihatsu Motor and Hino Motors, achieved a new historic peak, rebounding from the challenges posed by the Covid-19 pandemic and a prior chip shortage. The Japanese automaker announced on Tuesday that its worldwide sales experienced a 7.2% upturn, reaching 11.2 million vehicles, surpassing the previous record of 10.7 million units set in 2019.

Toyota further reported that global production marked an 8.6% increase, reaching an all-time high of 11.5 million vehicles in the same year.

Notably, in December, sales exhibited a notable 10% rise compared to the previous year, totaling 1.0 million vehicles. Concurrently, production increased by 7.7%, reaching 906,570 units. The company attributed this positive performance to robust demand and a mitigation of the semiconductor shortage, signaling a strong conclusion to the year.
