India and South Korea Forge Partnership to Advance Logistics and Infrastructure Development

The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) of India has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Korea Transport Institute (KOTI) to collaborate on enhancing logistics and infrastructure. The agreement was formalized at the Sejong National Research Complex in South Korea, with Youngchan Kim, President of KOTI, and H.E. Amit Kumar, India’s Ambassador to South Korea, signing the MoU.


Key Objectives of the MoU

1. Establishing a Framework for Knowledge Exchange

  • The partnership aims to create a comprehensive mechanism for knowledge sharing and institutional cooperation between DPIIT’s Logistics Division and KOTI.

2. Developing Infrastructure and Logistics Master Plans

  • Collaborate on the development of infrastructure and logistics master plans under India’s PM GatiShakti National Master Plan, leveraging KOTI’s expertise.

3. Enhancing Expertise through Joint Initiatives

  • Implement research-driven programs, training sessions, and technical assistance to bolster capabilities in logistics and infrastructure.

4. Promoting Innovation and Technology Adoption

  • Encourage cross-learning in areas such as master planning, technology adoption, and innovation to modernize India’s logistics sector.

Strategic Implications

This collaboration is poised to significantly bolster India’s infrastructure initiatives by integrating global best practices and advanced technologies. The partnership will also highlight the achievements under the PM GatiShakti initiative and promote GIS data-based technology on a global stage.
