In a major step towards modernizing its domestic fleet, ANA Holdings Inc. has confirmed an order for 15 Embraer E190-E2 aircraft, with an option for five additional jets. This acquisition makes ANA the first Japanese airline to integrate Embraer’s advanced E2 series, reinforcing its commitment to sustainability and operational efficiency.

Strengthening Domestic Operations

Set for delivery in 2028, the new fleet will be deployed across ANA’s domestic network, offering optimized seating capacity of approximately 100 passengers. The aircraft is designed to bridge the gap between ANA’s larger Boeing 737s and smaller turboprops, ensuring more flexible and cost-effective operations.

  • Passenger Comfort: The E190-E2 features a two-by-two seating layout, eliminating middle seats and enhancing the onboard experience.
  • Operational Versatility: Its fuel efficiency and enhanced performance on short-to-medium-haul routes make it an ideal solution for ANA’s network expansion.

Sustainability & Fuel Efficiency

Aligned with ANA’s net-zero emissions goal, the E190-E2 delivers a 25% reduction in fuel consumption and carbon emissions compared to previous models. The aircraft is certified to operate with up to 50% sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), with demonstrated compatibility for 100% SAF, further solidifying ANA’s leadership in eco-friendly aviation.

Strategic Market Expansion

This purchase is part of ANA’s ambitious ¥2.16 trillion ($14 billion) fleet renewal strategy, which includes 77 new aircraft from Boeing, Airbus, and Embraer. The initiative aims to boost passenger capacity, improve fuel efficiency, and maintain ANA’s competitive edge in the Asia-Pacific aviation market.

For Embraer, securing this order highlights the growing demand for next-generation regional aircraft and strengthens its foothold in the Asian aviation sector. The E2 series, known for its cutting-edge efficiency and reduced environmental footprint, continues to gain global recognition.

With ANA embracing the latest aviation technologies, this investment represents a significant step towards a more sustainable and customer-focused airline industry.
