Singapore-based Mapletree Investments has strengthened its presence in Hong Kong’s logistics sector by securing a 50-year land grant for a 44,318-square-meter site in Tsing Yi. This strategic acquisition, valued at HK$3.68 billion (US$473 million), is set to bolster Hong Kong’s position as a premier international logistics hub.

A Major Logistics Expansion in Tsing Yi

The newly acquired Tsing Yi Town Lot 202 will be developed into a multi-story logistics facility, incorporating a public car park and offering a maximum gross floor area of 227,836 square meters. This expansion aligns with Hong Kong’s long-term infrastructure goals and is expected to enhance supply chain efficiencies in the region.

Mapletree’s investment reflects confidence in Hong Kong’s logistics and trade capabilities, reinforcing its strategy to expand in key global commerce locations. The city continues to play a crucial role in Asia-Pacific trade, and this new facility will further support regional distribution networks and e-commerce fulfillment.

Strengthening an Existing Logistics Network

This latest investment complements Mapletree’s existing assets in Hong Kong, including the Mapletree Logistics Hub Tsing Yi, an 11-story Grade A logistics facility spanning 120,550 square meters, and the Festival Walk shopping center in Kowloon Tong, a 112,297-square-meter retail and commercial complex.

The Hong Kong government’s Transport and Logistics Bureau has expressed optimism about this development, highlighting that private sector interest in logistics expansion signals sustained market confidence. The bureau has also outlined plans to release three additional logistics sites, contingent on market conditions, to further enhance the city’s infrastructure.

A Strategic Move for Global Logistics Growth

Mapletree’s expansion in Tsing Yi is part of a broader strategy to solidify its logistics presence in high-growth markets. By leveraging Hong Kong’s geographical advantage and world-class port facilities, the company aims to strengthen supply chain connectivity and provide seamless logistics solutions to multinational clients.

As global trade dynamics evolve, Hong Kong remains a critical logistics hub, and investments like Mapletree’s ensure that the city continues to serve as a gateway for international commerce. This latest move positions Mapletree as a key player in shaping the future of logistics and supply chain management in the region.
