Argentina has approved new regulatory measures that significantly expand the operating scope of Emirates SkyCargo in the country.
Disposición 3/2026 forms part of a wider deregulation strategy designed to strengthen exports, improve logistics performance and attract international investment.
The decision grants Emirates broader traffic rights under Argentina’s open skies framework, allowing the carrier to operate international cargo services with increased flexibility.
One of the most notable elements is permission for limited domestic routing linked to international cargo operations, effectively creating a controlled form of cabotage-related activity for a foreign airline.
The move builds on earlier agreements between Argentina and the United Arab Emirates, including a 2013 Air Services Agreement and a 2025 memorandum of understanding that progressively expanded bilateral traffic rights.
Authorities say the objective is to improve freight capacity, increase service frequency and reduce transit times.
Export industries expected to benefit most include perishables, pharmaceuticals and higher-value manufactured goods, where speed and reliability are critical.
At the same time, the arrival of a global cargo operator with major scale and network reach is likely to intensify competition for domestic players that lack comparable international infrastructure.
The decision signals Argentina’s willingness to prioritise connectivity and investment even where it reshapes traditional protections in the local aviation market.
