March 21, 2025 – In a significant step towards sustainable logistics transformation, DHL Supply Chain Thailand and Michelin have joined forces to introduce an electric prime mover, a move aimed at cutting carbon emissions and revolutionizing supply chain sustainability in Thailand.

A Major Leap Towards Carbon-Free Logistics

The initiative features the deployment of an electric 18-wheeler, capable of traveling up to 350 kilometers on a single charge, with a full recharge taking approximately two hours. This cutting-edge transport solution is expected to reduce CO₂ emissions by 60 tons annually, contributing significantly to Thailand’s green logistics sector.

“This partnership is a game-changer for Thailand’s logistics industry,” said a DHL spokesperson. “By integrating electric vehicles (EVs) into our operations, we are laying the foundation for a cleaner, more efficient supply chain.”

Sustainability Commitments from DHL and Michelin

Both companies have outlined ambitious sustainability goals, and this collaboration is a key milestone in their broader environmental strategies:

  • DHL’s Net-Zero Vision: The logistics giant has committed to achieving net-zero emissions by 2050, with initiatives spanning across green transport, sustainable warehousing, and digital optimization.
  • Michelin’s Supply Chain Innovation: Michelin continues to drive environmental responsibility within its supply chain by adopting low-carbon transport solutions, further reducing its overall carbon footprint.

Transforming Thailand’s Logistics Landscape

The introduction of EV-powered freight transport is expected to set a new benchmark for sustainable logistics in Thailand. With the region heavily reliant on fossil-fuel-powered transport, this initiative signals a progressive shift towards eco-conscious supply chain solutions.

Industry experts anticipate that this collaboration will inspire further investments in:

  • Fleet electrification across logistics providers.
  • Development of smart charging infrastructure to support wider EV adoption.
  • Integration of AI-driven efficiency models to optimize delivery routes and energy consumption.

“Sustainability in logistics is no longer a future goal—it is today’s priority,” stated a Michelin executive. “By adopting electric freight solutions, we are paving the way for a new era of environmentally responsible supply chain operations.”

Future Expansion and Industry-Wide Impact

As DHL and Michelin continue to expand their green logistics initiatives, this partnership could serve as a model for other corporations looking to decarbonize their supply chains. If successful, it may prompt broader adoption of electric freight transport not only in Thailand but across Southeast Asia’s logistics network.

With supply chain sustainability gaining momentum worldwide, DHL and Michelin’s collaboration is a crucial step in reshaping the industry’s future.
