General Atomics AeroTec Systems GmbH (GA-ATS) and Swedish mission equipment specialist TRAKKA Systems AB have entered into a strategic partnership to provide TRAKKA’s advanced camera technology as an integrated equipment option for the Do228 NXT multi-purpose aircraft.
The agreement adds another sensor capability to the next-generation aircraft that made its first flight and official world premiere in June 2026.
The Do228 NXT is the latest generation of the Dornier 228, a multi-role aircraft capable of carrying out a variety of specialized missions. The new partnership further extends the aircraft’s available sensor and mission equipment as GA-ATS continues to build its capabilities for operators with demanding operational requirements.
TRAKKA Systems will showcase its portfolio of gyro-stabilised, multispectral imaging systems, designed to provide high quality imagery during day and nite operations in a range of operating environments.
TrakkaCam TC-375 advanced imaging capabilities
The Do228 NXT features the TrakkaCam TC-375 as its main camera. The TrakkaCam TC-375 is a gyro-stabilised multispectral imaging system used for surveillance and reconnaissance.
The system provides Full HD imagery for day and nite operation, allowing real-time detection and identification in a broad spectrum of scenarios. It can also take high-resolution photographs and video, providing crews with information that can speed up decision-making during missions.
The camera’s stabilization and multispectral capabilities make it well suited to operations where accurate visual information is critical, especially where aircraft need to monitor areas for extended periods or operate in difficult conditions.
Designed for a range of mission profiles
The TC-375 is compatible with a broad spectrum of the Do228 NXT developed missions.
Potential applications include law enforcement, search and rescue, civil protection, military intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) and environmental monitoring.
The combination of aircraft and camera system gives operators another tool to collect and analyze information from the air.
The partnership is another step in broadening the mission flexibility of the Do228 NXT for GA-ATS. For TRAKKA Systems, the TC-375’s ability to be integrated into the aircraft allows it to expand its imaging technology to a broader scope of specialized aviation operations.
The partnership is in line with the two companies’ commitment to provide operators with next-generation systems that can enable complex missions. It will also further establish the Do228 NXT as a versatile platform for surveillance, emergency response and other specialized missions.
