DP World has announced significant progress in the development of the Sokhna Logistics Park, with 65% of the first phase now complete. This $80 million project, strategically located in the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE), aims to enhance Egypt’s logistics infrastructure and establish the country as a pivotal regional trade hub.

Key Features of the Sokhna Logistics Park:

  • Expansive Facility: Spanning 300,000 square meters, the park is designed to offer cost-effective, integrated supply chain solutions, leveraging DP World’s extensive global network.
  • Strategic Location: Situated just 10 kilometers from Sokhna Port, the park provides direct access to Greater Cairo’s key markets and major industrial zones, enabling businesses to reduce operational costs and improve efficiency through streamlined cargo movements.
  • Comprehensive Services: The facility will feature bonded and non-bonded warehouses, office spaces, and open cargo and container yards. Logistics activities will include warehousing, freight forwarding, customs clearing, and value-added services such as labeling, coding, sorting, packing, and inspection.

Industry Applications:

Built to the highest international standards, the park is designed to support a range of industries, including agriculture, pharmaceuticals, retail, automotive, and textiles. The facility has already attracted interest from both local and international markets, including businesses established in Dubai’s Jebel Ali Free Zone (JAFZA) looking to expand regionally.

Future Outlook:

Scheduled for completion in June 2025, the Sokhna Logistics Park is expected to drive efficiency, reduce logistics costs, and strengthen connectivity between Egypt, the Middle East, Africa, and beyond. Ranjit Ray, Senior Vice President of Economic Zones for the MENA region at DP World, stated:

“The facility will support a wide range of cargo across imports, exports, and transit, and will be integrated with DP World’s operations at Sokhna Port, offering a full range of multi-modal supply chain services, including freight forwarding and logistics solutions.”

As the project progresses, it is poised to play a crucial role in facilitating trade flows, reducing transit times, and lowering logistics costs for businesses operating in the region. The completion of the Sokhna Logistics Park will not only enhance Egypt’s logistics capabilities but also contribute significantly to the country’s economic growth by creating job opportunities and fostering international trade partnerships.
