FIATA has formed a strategic partnership with Otonomi to make digital cargo and delay insurance more widely available to freight forwarders worldwide.
The agreement was formalised during the session “Unlocking Value with Emerging Technologies in Freight Forwarding” at the 2026 FIATA HQ Meeting in Geneva. It is designed to help forwarders manage business interruption risks arising from delayed cargo across airfreight, ocean freight and e-commerce parcel movements.
Under the programme, FIATA members can access Otonomi’s cargo delay solution through the official partnership page on the company’s website. By entering basic shipment details such as an air waybill or bill of lading, users receive an instant quote generated by Otonomi’s algorithms, without paperwork or manual underwriting. Members can also choose the delay trigger — from three to 24 hours — and set their preferred coverage level before digital policy issuance.
FIATA director general Stéphane Graber said the collaboration was in line with the association’s aim of connecting members with tools and partnerships that help them navigate an increasingly complex trade environment. He described the insurance offer as the kind of practical, value-added partnership FIATA wants to champion.
Otonomi founder and chief executive Yann Barbaroux said freight forwarders had long lacked suitable protection against cargo delays and that the FIATA alliance would help scale a solution designed specifically for the realities of modern logistics.
The programme covers a broad range of sectors, including perishables, pharmaceuticals, aerospace, automotive, life sciences, electronics and e-commerce. Otonomi’s platform manages quoting, policy issuance and claims handling while also addressing regulatory and compliance requirements.
