Hong Kong cargo handler Hactl has appointed Frosti Lau Yi-sau as its new chief executive, marking a leadership transition following the departure of Wilson Kwong earlier this year.
Lau is due to begin in the role on 8 June and joins Hactl from Cathay Pacific Airways, where he most recently served as regional general manager, Southeast Asia & Oceania.
He brings more than 25 years of leadership experience across the aviation and air cargo industries, having worked in a number of markets including Hong Kong, the Chinese Mainland, Australasia, Southeast Asia and Southern Africa.
During his time at Cathay, Lau also held positions including regional general manager for the Southwest Pacific and general manager for cargo service delivery. In the latter role, he also served as a director of the airline’s air cargo terminal subsidiary.
In announcing the appointment, Hactl highlighted the breadth of his background across both commercial and operational functions, including work in digital transformation, partnership development and talent management.
Michelle Choi, Hactl’s acting chief executive, said leading the world’s most advanced air cargo handling business requires deep industry expertise together with strong digital and technological credentials.
She said the company was pleased to welcome Lau and expressed confidence that he would build on Hactl’s long record of success and reputation for leadership in the sector while guiding the business into its next phase.
His predecessor, Wilson Kwong, served as chief executive for eight years before leaving Hactl in January to take up a new position at MTR Corporation, the public transport and property group.
