Hong Kong Air Cargo takes another step into India with new Mumbai freighter service

The new service comes just two months after Aeroprime Group became the airline’s Cargo GSSA in India, adding capacity for exporters and strengthening links between Mumbai, Hong Kong and international markets.

Hong Kong Air Cargo is accelerating its development in India with a new dedicated freighter service from Mumbai, adding another piece to a network the airline is looking to expand in one of Asia’s key cargo markets.

The launch comes only two months after Aeroprime Group was appointed as Hong Kong Air Cargo’s Cargo General Sales & Service Agent (GSSA) in India. The short timeframe between the appointment and the start of the new service underlines how quickly the two companies have moved from partnership to operational expansion.

Mumbai was a natural choice for the next step. As one of India’s major cargo gateways, the city gives Hong Kong Air Cargo access to an important base of export traffic while creating additional options for companies looking to move goods through Hong Kong and into international markets.

For exporters, the new freighter service means more available cargo capacity and improved connectivity. For the airline, it represents an opportunity to strengthen its position in India and build a larger presence in the market over the longer term.

Abhishek Goyal, Executive Director of Aeroprime Group, said the speed of the launch reflects the way both teams have worked together since the partnership began.

“Launching Hong Kong Air Cargo’s freighter service from Mumbai within just two months of our partnership reflects the shared commitment and agility of both teams,” Goyal said.

He described Mumbai as one of India’s most strategic cargo gateways and said the expansion would give customers greater capacity, better connectivity and reliable cargo solutions.

Goyal also thanked Hong Kong Air Cargo and its partners for their continued trust, while making clear that Aeroprime Group intends to keep working on expanding the airline’s presence across India.

Raymond Chen, Vice President and Commercial spokesperson for Hong Kong Air Cargo, sees the Mumbai launch as another important stage in the airline’s Indian growth strategy.

“The launch of our freighter service from Mumbai marks an important step in our India growth strategy,” Chen said.

Mumbai’s role as a major export hub was also highlighted by Chen, who welcomed the rapid progress made with Aeroprime Group since the partnership began.

He credited Aeroprime Group’s support with helping Hong Kong Air Cargo broaden its footprint in the Indian market. The airline now plans to build on that momentum, with further network development and a stronger cargo offering for customers.

The partnership is therefore moving beyond a commercial agreement and into a wider network expansion strategy. Hong Kong Air Cargo is reinforcing its long-term commitment to India, while Aeroprime Group is using its market development and commercial expertise to support the airline’s cargo growth.

The Mumbai freighter service is another step in that process. Both companies have indicated that they want to continue expanding the airline’s Indian network, increasing cargo capacity and improving connections between India, Hong Kong and onward global markets.
