Ekart has expanded its partnership with IKEA in India, taking on responsibility for the home furnishing giant’s last-mile deliveries in Chennai through a fully electric and technology-led operating model.

The move makes Chennai the second major city where Ekart manages IKEA deliveries, following the launch of the partnership in NCR-Delhi in 2025.

Orders placed through IKEA’s website and app in Chennai will now be fulfilled using Ekart’s 100% dedicated electric vehicle fleet, allowing the company to operate what it describes as fully sustainable and technology-enabled delivery services in the city.

Under the long-term agreement, Ekart will manage end-to-end order movement across more than 600 IKEA products. That includes furniture, home décor, large-format items, home solutions that require specialised handling and everyday household products.

The goal is to ensure consistent and efficient doorstep delivery across Chennai, supported by a technology-driven fulfilment network and route optimisation tools. Ekart said it will enable delivery windows of up to 48 hours, while offering real-time tracking and end-to-end visibility from the fulfilment hub to the customer’s doorstep.

The company argues that the dedicated EV-powered supply chain demonstrates its ability to build scalable and sustainable logistics solutions tailored to the needs of large-format retail. It also aligns with a shared objective to advance zero-emission urban deliveries in India.

Ekart said the growing partnership with IKEA reflects a common focus on sustainable urban logistics. Its role in supporting fully electric last-mile operations is intended to show how environmentally responsible logistics models can be scaled for complex and high-involvement retail deliveries.

Mani Bhushan, chief business officer at Ekart, said the expanded partnership reflects the company’s ability to design and run enterprise-grade specialised supply chains for leading global retailers. As large-format retail continues to grow in India, he said the need for reliable and technology-driven logistics partners is becoming increasingly important. Ekart’s focus, he added, is on delivering consistent and sustainable logistics at scale through dedicated infrastructure and an EV-led last-mile network.

Saiba Suri, country customer fulfilment manager for IKEA India, said efficient and sustainable fulfilment is central to IKEA’s growth in India as the company expands its omnichannel model. She said the Chennai partnership improves IKEA’s ability to serve customers faster and more seamlessly, especially across large-format home furnishing categories where specialised logistics are critical. By combining operational scale with electric delivery, she said the partnership also supports IKEA’s environmental ambitions without compromising service standards.

Ekart currently supports more than 1,800 retail, D2C and enterprise brands across India, offering integrated solutions in last-mile delivery, part-truckload and warehousing. The company said the combination of IKEA’s product expertise and Ekart’s logistics network is intended to create a more reliable, seamless and sustainable customer experience.
