TAAG Angola Airlines has appointed its Chief Operating Officer, Iuri Neto, as the airline’s Accountable Manager, following the formal acceptance of his appointment by Angola’s National Civil Aviation Authority (ANAC).
The decision came after ANAC reviewed the regulatory documentation submitted by TAAG and assessed Neto’s professional qualifications and experience. The authority confirmed that he meets the requirements for integrity, technical competence and management capability established under applicable aviation regulations.
Greater responsibility for safety and compliance
The Accountable Manager position carries a central role in an airline’s certification and operational safety framework.
In his new capacity, Neto will have ultimate corporate responsibility before ANAC for ensuring that TAAG’s flight operations and airworthiness activities comply with applicable standards.
His responsibilities will also include ensuring the effective operation of TAAG’s Safety Management System (SMS) and maintaining compliance with both national and international civil aviation regulations.
The role gives Neto the authority to ensure that the financial, technical and operational resources required to maintain TAAG’s operations and its Air Operator Certificate are available.
Appointment strengthens TAAG’s governance
ANAC’s acceptance has been formally recorded in the authority’s official records and TAAG’s operational manuals, providing regulatory validation of Neto’s eligibility to take on the role.
TAAG said the appointment represents an important step in strengthening its operational governance, safety and compliance framework.
The airline also reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining rigorous regulatory standards and continuously improving operational safety.
Neto will continue serving as Chief Operating Officer alongside his new responsibilities as Accountable Manager.
TAAG clarified that the appointment does not affect the airline’s Board of Directors, nor does it change the existing allocation of executive responsibilities.
