ULD management specialist Jettainer and Chinese ULD manufacturer Hangyi have entered into a strategic partnership aimed at transforming Unit Load Device (ULD) management in Mainland China. The two companies signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) during air cargo China 2026, marking the beginning of a collaboration designed to deliver integrated, technology-driven ULD solutions for airlines operating in the region. The partnership combines Hangyi’s strengths in ULD manufacturing, maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO), and its strong regional presence with Jettainer’s internationally recognised expertise in ULD fleet management and digital operations. Together, the companies intend to provide airlines with more efficient, coordinated and cost-effective ULD services while supporting the growing demands of the Chinese aviation market.Under the agreement, Hangyi will manufacture and supply ULDs according to jointly defined technical specifications. Jettainer, meanwhile, will take responsibility for the global management of ULD fleets, ensuring operational optimisation through its proprietary JettWareNG digital platform. As part of the cooperation, Jettainer will also oversee the technical onboarding of new ULDs, including the integration of IoT-based tracking and monitoring technologies that provide greater visibility and control throughout the equipment’s lifecycle. Its UCD team will further support operational coordination to improve fleet performance and efficiency.Maintenance capabilities will also be significantly expanded. Hangyi currently operates MRO facilities in China and Kuala Lumpur, while additional maintenance centres are planned for Saudi Arabia, Europe and Canada. Outside these locations, Jettainer will rely on its established global network of MRO partners to ensure worldwide repair support for customers.Beyond fleet management and maintenance, the agreement also includes logistics services. Hangyi will provide domestic trucking and warehouse operations throughout China, while Jettainer will leverage its European transport network to support international logistics and ULD storage requirements.Dr. Jan-Wilhelm Breithaupt, CEO of Jettainer, described the agreement as a major step forward for the company’s presence in China. He said the partnership would enable airlines in Mainland China to benefit from one of the industry’s most comprehensive ULD service portfolios, enhanced by advanced IoT tracking technology to maximise operational efficiency. According to him, the collaboration further strengthens the connection between Chinese expertise and Jettainer’s global capabilities.Fei Qiang, CEO of Hangyi, also highlighted the strategic importance of the partnership, describing it as a key milestone in the company’s ambition to become a leading global aviation services provider. He noted that Hangyi continues to expand both its innovative ULD product range and its MRO capabilities to deliver efficient, high-quality and cost-effective solutions. By joining forces with Jettainer, the company believes it can offer airlines in China a fully integrated ULD management solution that combines local expertise with international operational excellence.
