LATAM Cargo has become one of the latest carriers to strengthen operations to Venezuela following the easing of US sanctions on the country.

Since May 3, the group’s Colombian subsidiary has been operating two weekly flights between Miami International Airport and Simón Bolívar International Airport in Caracas. The service runs on Sundays and Thursdays using a Boeing 767 freighter.

The route responds to growing demand for connectivity between the United States and Venezuela. After Caracas, the flight continues to Bogotá.

Andrés Varela, North America commercial director at LATAM Cargo Group, said the strength of LATAM Cargo’s network enabled the rapid deployment of the new service. According to him, the opening reflects an agile, present and solution-oriented organisation.

The service will mainly carry general cargo and courier shipments, while also being able to handle specific requirements such as oversized cargo and pharmaceuticals.

LATAM Cargo also said the operation strengthens Miami’s role as a strategic hub, with a dedicated commercial team and a fixed schedule adapted to market needs.

The announcement is part of a broader return of cargo carriers to Venezuela following political changes in the country and the gradual reopening of its economy. DHL, Avianca, Cargojet and Amerijet have also increased services.

According to Rotate data from late April, international cargo capacity to Venezuela increased by around 40% year on year over the latest seven-day period observed.
