Lufthansa Cargo, WiseTech Global and IBS Software have successfully gone live with IATA’s ONE Record standard, becoming among the first companies to exchange air cargo shipment data through the new system in a real production environment.
The milestone represents one of the first large-scale implementations of the industry standard, which was introduced by the International Air Transport Association (IATA) in January 2026 to modernize the way information is shared across the global air cargo supply chain.
Rather than relying on multiple disconnected systems, ONE Record creates a single digital framework that allows airlines, freight forwarders and logistics partners to exchange shipment information securely and in real time.
The project builds on several years of collaboration between the three companies. In the new setup, WiseTech Global provides the platform used by freight forwarders through CargoWise, while IBS Software powers Lufthansa Cargo’s internal systems. Together, they have enabled shipment information to move seamlessly between both platforms using the new standard.
The first live use case focused on Master Air Waybill data. Shipment records created by a freight forwarder in CargoWise were successfully transmitted and processed directly within Lufthansa Cargo’s systems through the IBS ONE Record server, demonstrating that the new digital workflow is ready for operational use.
One of the biggest advantages of ONE Record is that shipment information can be reviewed, updated and validated before the cargo even leaves the ground. The standard also supports a much wider range of data and document formats than older systems, giving everyone involved in the shipment greater visibility throughout the transport process.
Lufthansa Cargo’s implementation is part of a wider strategy to drive digitalization throughout its operations. Dr. Jasmin Kaiser, the airline’s Head of Information Management and Chief Data Officer, said the company has been working on ONE Record for several years and is now ready to connect with customers and partners more efficiently while creating the foundation for future AI-powered services.
WiseTech Global also sees the project as an important step toward a fully connected cargo ecosystem. According to Senior Product Manager Elias Hatzigeorgiou, replacing fragmented communication with a standardized digital platform will improve transparency, strengthen collaboration and make information available to supply chain partners in real time.
IBS Software echoed that view, saying the successful implementation demonstrates how technology and digital innovation are becoming increasingly important to the future of air cargo. The company believes ONE Record will play a central role in helping the industry meet growing operational and regulatory requirements.
Developed by IATA as an open-source standard, ONE Record is designed to become the future model for end-to-end cargo data exchange. As more airlines, freight forwarders and logistics providers adopt the platform, the industry is expected to benefit from faster information sharing, greater transparency and more efficient cargo operations worldwide.
