Luxaviation ONE, the dedicated charter brokerage division of Luxaviation Group, has appointed Markus Schmidt as Vice President Cargo, reinforcing its efforts to further develop its cargo charter and air freight activities.
Schmidt brings more than 20 years of international air cargo experience to the role. At Luxaviation ONE, he will lead and further develop the existing air cargo team while working closely with clients and partners to expand the company’s cargo activities.
Before joining Luxaviation ONE, Schmidt was with Chapman Freeborn Airchartering, where he most recently served as Vice President Cargo Commercial Operations Europe. His career also includes senior positions at Etihad Airways, Celebi Aviation Holding and Asiana Airlines. His experience covers cargo charter, commercial operations, airline and supplier relationships, strategic account management and business development.
“Since establishing our cargo capabilities within Luxaviation ONE, we have seen significant potential to broaden the solutions we provide to clients. Markus’s appointment is an important next step in that development, bringing extensive industry expertise to an established team and supporting our plans to further grow our cargo activities internationally,” said Patrick Hansen, CEO of Luxaviation Group.
Romain Alati, CEO of Luxaviation ONE, said the appointment also reflects the increasingly diverse requirements of the company’s customers and its ambition to strengthen its position as a trusted air freight solutions partner.
“Client requirements are becoming increasingly diverse, and our ambition is to be a trusted partner for air freight solutions. Markus brings extensive industry experience and a strong understanding of the market. His appointment strengthens our Air Cargo team and enables us to build on our existing capabilities with the right partners to meet a broad range of requirements,” Alati added.
Luxaviation ONE’s air cargo team handles full and part cargo charters, alongside air freight solutions designed for individual shipments and specific cargo volumes. Its activities cover a wide range of industries and cargo types, including automotive, aerospace, oil and gas, mining, textiles and garments, humanitarian and government cargo, valuable cargo, artworks, e-commerce and general cargo. The team also manages dangerous goods and other specialised shipments.
Markus Schmidt joins Luxaviation ONE as Vice President Cargo.
Luxaviation ONE said the appointment comes as global cargo flows continue to evolve amid changing trade patterns, geopolitical developments and ongoing supply chain disruption. The company noted that these conditions are increasingly encouraging a shift from ocean freight to air freight, particularly when delivery timelines and supply chain continuity are critical.
For Schmidt, the focus will be on matching each shipment with the right operational solution while building on the expertise already established within the team.
“Every cargo solution starts with the requirement. Whether it is a smaller shipment, a part charter or a larger charter operation, our role is to understand what is needed and identify the appropriate solution. I look forward to building on the expertise already in place and strengthening long-term relationships across our network,” said Markus Schmidt, Vice President Cargo at Luxaviation ONE.
