Menzies Aviation Speeds Up Cargo Release with New Quick Pay Service

Menzies Aviation is digitally revamping a payment step that can often be a bottleneck in the final stages of an air cargo shipment.

The aviation services company has introduced Quick Pay, a new payment feature in its Menzies Aviation Cargo Handling (MACH) customer portal, which enables cargo customers to see Air Waybill (AWB) charges and pay directly thru PayCargo.

The new service is aimed at removing some of the administrative friction that has traditionally accompanied cargo payments and helping shipments move thru the release process faster.

Pay without the paperwork

Quick Pay allows customers to check the charges against an AWB and make their payment thru PayCargo.

They can use an existing PayCargo account or choose the guest checkout option which means customers do not need to create an account before proceeding to make a transaction.

The approach seeks to reduce manual payment procedures and eliminate unnecessary account-setup steps at a point in the cargo journey where time can be especially critical.

Once the payment requirements are satisfied, the process can help in faster release of cargo and easier transfer of the cargo from the handling operation to the customer.

MACH continues to grow

Quick Pay is the newest feature to be added to the MACH customer portal, launched by Menzies Aviation to provide customers with greater visibility and control of their cargo movements.

The platform already enables users to track shipments by Air Waybill reference, and to view details of Menzies Aviation’s worldwide cargo network.

Since its launch in 2023, MACH has been deployed to 49 airports and processed more than 1.6 million Air Waybills.

Menzies Aviation plans to continue adding capabilities to the platform as part of its wider digital transformation program, which aims to make cargo operations more efficient, improve shipment visibility and simplify customer interactions.

Digital payments make their way into cargo efficiency world

Traditional cargo payment processes may involve manual processes and account-registration requirements, which can delay the release of freight, Menzies Aviation said.

Quick Pay is created to solve the bottleneck of this process by giving customers a direct digital channel to see their outstanding charges, view payment details and make transactions thru PayCargo.

Menzies Aviation SVP Cargo Technology Rory Fidler said: “The launch represents another step in the evolution of MACH and our wider digital transformation.

“The partnership with PayCargo is intended to speed up and simplify payments, while reducing friction, improving visibility and helping to keep cargo moving,” he said.

PayCargo Global CEO Eduardo Del Riego also pointed out the importance of speed and certainty in air cargo.

“We are working together to make transactions easier and get cargo out faster,” he said, adding that the partnership would continue the digitalization of air cargo payments, and that payment procedures should not be a reason for cargo to be delayed.

Supporting a worldwide cargo network

The initiative is part of Menzies Aviation’s broader strategy to harness technology to enhance the customer experience, while improving operational efficiency and empowering its frontline teams.

The company operates a global cargo network, with 73 warehouses and 79 freighter handling locations.

Across that network Menzies Aviation handles more than 2.4 million tons of cargo annually.

By embedding payments into the MACH platform, the company is connecting yet another part of the cargo journey to its digital infrastructure and turning a process that has been largely administrative into yet another way to cut delays and keep freight moving thru the global air cargo system.
