Singapore-based Pacific International Lines (PIL) has launched a new direct shipping service between Asia and Africa, named the Far East – West Africa Service (FEWAS). The service is designed to meet the growing demand for containerized goods moving between these two important regions, focusing on key ports such as Singapore, Shenzhen, and Lagos.
PIL’s move to provide a direct ocean service between Asia and Africa comes as supply chains between the two continents become more interconnected, largely due to increasing manufacturing partnerships and agricultural exports. The FEWAS service will offer more competitive transit times and increased capacity for both dry and refrigerated cargo.
Strategic Growth:
This expansion into the Asia-Africa market is part of PIL’s broader strategy to focus on niche, underserved routes where they can offer tailored shipping solutions. By avoiding the more congested shipping lanes, PIL can serve customers seeking reliable ocean freight services without the delays seen in other parts of the world.
