Royal Air Maroc Cargo has strengthened its international cargo network with a direct service between Casablanca and Los Angeles, creating a new link between Africa and the U.S. West Coast.

The service started June 7, 2026, three times a week on Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft. With large belly cargo capacity, the widebody aircraft can carry freight along with passengers, the airline says.

Royal Air Maroc is now the only African airline to offer a direct connection between Africa and the U.S. West Coast.

New trade route via Casablanca

The Casablanca-Los Angeles route is part of Royal Air Maroc Cargo’s broader plan to make Casablanca a major intercontinental cargo hub.

The new service is a continuation of the carrier’s Casablanca-Beijing link started in early 2025 and its wider transatlantic network.

The routes together create a seamless cargo corridor linking Los Angeles, Casablanca and Beijing. The network offers a round the world routing option linking major production and consumer markets across North America, Africa and Asia.

“The Los Angeles market connects Royal Air Maroc Cargo to one of the world’s largest consumer economies and provides links to key trade flows across the Pacific.

Multiple cargo opportunities

The new service is expected to include a broad range of commodities.

Artisan products, textiles and perishables may be shipped from Morocco and other African markets to the United States.

In the other direction, the network can haul electronics and e-commerce shipments and industrial products coming out of China and other parts of Asia.

The route therefore offers more opportunities for high-value and e-commerce related supply chains while improving access to markets that historically had more limited air cargo connections with Africa.

Royal Air Maroc Cargo sees particular opportunity to strengthen underserved trade lanes between Africa and the U.S. West Coast and between Africa and Asia.

Casablanca, the center of the network

The new route complements Casablanca’s role as a bridge between continents.

“The launch of Los Angeles is an important milestone in our strategy to connect the major international markets via our Casablanca hub,” said Rita Chraibi, Vise President Cargo at Royal Air Maroc.

“Linking the U.S. West Coast to Royal Air Maroc Cargo’s network in Africa and Asia will provide our customers with seamless, multi-leg connectivity, enhanced market access and better routing options,” Chraibi said.

Royal Air Maroc Cargo now has the ability to enhance international trade flows with direct connectivity between Los Angeles and Casablanca and onward to Beijing, while also making its Moroccan hub an increasingly significant gateway between Africa, North America and Asia.
