The Government of Saskatchewan has launched three highway improvement projects in the Ogema, Maymont and Springside regions as part of its ongoing infrastructure investment program.
Highways Minister Kim Gartner urged motorists to stay alert and drive cautiously when approaching active construction zones as work progresses across the province.
The largest project is taking place on Highway 13 near Ogema, where approximately $11.5 million is being invested to repave more than 25 kilometres of roadway. The project also includes resurfacing the access roads into Pangman and Ogema. Gravel crushing began in early July, with paving work now underway. The project is expected to be completed by late fall.
On Highway 16 near Maymont, the province is investing $4.4 million to repave more than 10 kilometres of highway, beginning at the junction with Highway 376 and extending southeast. Construction is scheduled to finish during the current construction season.
Meanwhile, on Highway 47 near Springside, about $1.9 million is being spent to resurface more than eight kilometres of roadway north of its junction with Highway 16. Construction began on July 15 and is expected to wrap up this fall.
Together, the three projects represent an investment of nearly $17.8 million to improve road conditions, support safer travel and maintain Saskatchewan’s provincial highway network.
