European intralogistics specialist TGW Logistics has forged a collaboration with the US-based warehouse automation company Opex to advance the development of automated storage and retrieval systems (AS/RS).
In a joint announcement, the two companies expressed their intent to enhance Opex’s Infinity AS/RS through this partnership, which will also integrate the system into TGW Logistics’ LivePick new order fulfillment platform.
Christoph Wolkerstorfer, Chief Technology Officer of TGW Logistics, emphasized the alignment of values and corporate culture as key drivers behind this strategic collaboration. He highlighted TGW’s expertise as a systems integrator, which will invigorate the optimization and evolution of Infinity as part of this venture.
Opex, a family-owned business established in 1975 and headquartered in the US, operates across five continents with a workforce exceeding 1,500 employees. Meanwhile, Austria-based TGW Logistics, founded in 1969, boasts a workforce of over 4,400 employees and serves clients in the US through its Grand Rapids, Michigan unit, catering to renowned brands such as Gap, Urban Outfitters, and Victoria’s Secret.
Opex’s Infinity AS/RS system is designed to offer up to 35% greater storage capacity within the same space compared to competitors, along with up to 65% higher efficiency in terms of robot routing through the rack. Specifically tailored for small and medium-sized fulfillment projects, the system stands out for its innovative design and performance.
Through this collaboration, TGW Logistics and Opex aim to tap into new customer segments and markets across the US and Europe, leveraging their combined expertise and technological capabilities to deliver cutting-edge solutions in warehouse automation.
