Vietnam Airlines has appointed ECS Group as its General Sales and Services Agent (GSSA) in South Korea, reinforcing its strategy to strengthen cargo performance and expand its presence in one of its most important international freight markets.
The partnership is designed to support sales development, capacity management, operational supervision, digital services and customer support. ECS Group will also handle both general cargo and specialised segments, including electronics, pharmaceuticals, perishables and e-commerce shipments, reflecting the growing diversity of demand between Korea, Vietnam and global destinations.
South Korea is currently among the top three cargo markets in the Vietnam Airlines network and plays a central role in the carrier’s international growth strategy. The agreement comes as trade flows across Asia continue to expand, with Vietnam increasingly positioned as a key manufacturing and export hub for sectors such as electronics, semiconductors, automotive components, pharmaceuticals and online retail logistics.
By leveraging ECS Group’s sales network and CargoTech-powered digital tools, the partnership aims to improve revenue optimisation, enhance cargo visibility and maximise capacity utilisation across key routes. The collaboration is also expected to strengthen operational efficiency and improve service responsiveness for customers in the region.
ECS Group said the agreement is built around a structured business plan focused on performance and revenue growth, supported by dedicated Vietnam Airlines teams based in Incheon and Busan, alongside advanced digital capabilities.
“ECS Group presented a compelling business plan centred on revenue optimisation, supported by dedicated Vietnam Airlines teams in Incheon and Busan and backed by advanced digital capabilities,” said Jean Ceccaldi, Chief Executive Officer of ECS Group. “We are proud to strengthen our partnership with Vietnam Airlines and to bring the expertise, sales reach and CargoTech-powered digital ecosystem that have already delivered successful results in other markets.”
Customers are expected to benefit from improved access to capacity, enhanced operational transparency and more efficient cargo handling processes through ECS Group’s global network and digital infrastructure. Both companies also confirmed that discussions are ongoing regarding potential expansion into additional strategic cargo markets in the future.
