The historic ship-to-ship bunkering of green methanol for the Ane Maersk, a 16,200 TEU container ship, took place at Ulsan Port in South Korea, marking a pivotal moment in the maritime industry’s transition to sustainable fuels.
Overseen by the Ulsan Port Authority and the Korean Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, the operation aligns with global efforts to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050.
Maersk’s Ane, the first of eighteen methanol-powered container ships, played a crucial role in this groundbreaking bunkering, contributing to Maersk’s commitment to sustainable fuels by 2024 and 2025.
