Emirates SkyCargo is strengthening its footprint in India with the launch of two additional weekly freighter services to Mumbai and Ahmedabad, underscoring the strategic importance of the Indian market within its global network.

The Dubai-based carrier will introduce a new weekly freighter service to Mumbai starting March 4. The route will link Dubai, Singapore and India, enhancing connectivity between Southeast Asia, the Gulf and the Indian subcontinent.

In addition, a new dedicated freighter service to Ahmedabad will also begin operations in March, operating directly from Dubai.

Pharmaceuticals and Perishables in Focus

The airline expects the new services to carry a mix of pharmaceuticals, fresh fruits and vegetables, other perishables, and personal electronic devices — reflecting the diversity of India’s export base.

Emirates currently operates three weekly freighters to India — one serving Mumbai and two serving Ahmedabad — in addition to bellyhold capacity across 167 passenger flights connecting nine Indian gateways.

On average, the airline uplifts around 3,000 tonnes of cargo per week from India into global supply chains.

Long-Term Commitment to Indian Trade Corridors

“Our new freighter frequencies to India reflect both the strength of India’s trade corridors and our long-term commitment to supporting them,” said Badr Abbas, divisional senior vice president of Emirates SkyCargo.

He described India as a powerhouse in manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, perishables and e-commerce, noting that demand for reliable and stable air cargo capacity continues to grow.

The additional freighters are intended to enhance connectivity and provide increased capacity to customers in India and across international markets.

Integrated Road Feeder Network

Beyond aircraft capacity, Emirates SkyCargo operates an extensive trucking network to serve offline destinations throughout India.

In 2025, more than 1,000 Emirates SkyCargo trucks transported nearly 5,500 tonnes of cargo across the country. Shipments included automotive and aircraft spare parts, clothing and textiles, machinery and tools, spices and even a satellite.

The airline also deploys temperature-controlled reefer trucks for sensitive pharmaceuticals and medical equipment.

Coimbatore and Goa were recently added to the road feeder network as new offline stations.

In total, Emirates SkyCargo now serves nine Indian cities: Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Kochi, Kolkata, Mumbai and Thiruvananthapuram.

The expansion reinforces the carrier’s strategy of deepening its role in India’s integration with global trade flows.
