Borr Drilling has paused operations on four rigs in the Arabian Gulf, following an incident involving one unit in Saudi Arabia and precautionary measures taken elsewhere in the region.
The company said the Arabia III jack-up rig, which is on charter to Saudi Aramco until September 2028, was affected by an incident on March 7. According to the company, the rig was safely shut down afterwards and all personnel were successfully evacuated.
Borr Drilling also said that three additional rigs, one in the UAE and two in Qatar, were down-manned last week in line with customers’ precautionary measures.
The company stated that all employees and crew in the region are accounted for and safe.
Chief executive Bruno Morand said the safety and wellbeing of personnel remain the company’s top priority. He added that all regional staff are safe and that operations across the area will remain on standby until conditions allow activities to resume safely.
Borr Drilling said all four rigs remain under charter and are insured.
