Beihai Shipbuilding, together with CSSC Trading, has signed contracts with shipowner CMT for the construction of two 210,000 dwt bulk carriers.
The deal follows a letter of intent signed in the second half of 2025 covering four vessels. Contracts for the first two ships became effective late last year.
The new vessels are based on Beihai Shipbuilding’s fifth-generation Polaris design, developed as a next-generation green, intelligent, and efficient large bulker platform.
Each vessel will measure 300 metres in length, with a beam of 50 metres, molded depth of 25.2 metres, and structural draft of 18.5 metres.
The yard said propulsion efficiency has improved by more than 6% compared with the previous generation through hull optimization, lightweight structural design, and energy-saving technologies.
The ships will also be fitted with scrubbers to reduce sulphur oxide emissions.
Beihai Shipbuilding has already delivered more than 100 large bulk carriers. Following this contract, its orderbook stands at 93 vessels, covering bulk carriers, ore carriers, VLCCs, Suezmax tankers, and dry cargo ships, totaling nearly 22 million dwt.
