Swissport has secured a long-term agreement to handle cargo for Atlas Air Boeing 747-8F flights operated on behalf of Kuehne+Nagel at Liege Airport.
Wilfried Jans, managing director of Swissport Cargo Services Belgium, announced the start of the collaboration on LinkedIn, describing the Boeing 747-8 as a major aircraft in global airfreight.
The partnership builds on the relationship between Atlas Air and Kuehne+Nagel, first announced in February 2022, when Atlas agreed to lease two newbuild Boeing 747 freighters to the forwarder under a long-term charter agreement.
Kuehne+Nagel expanded its Liege presence last year when its 747-8F aircraft “Inspire” began serving the airport.
The forwarder already offers express, charter, consolidation and temperature-controlled solutions at Liege, with direct access to airside first-line warehouses.
The “Inspire” aircraft provides more than 140 tonnes of payload capacity and a range of over 8,000 km.
The second 747-8F linked to the Atlas agreement, “Empower”, is leased by Apex, the Asian logistics company acquired by Kuehne+Nagel in 2021.
Kuehne+Nagel also recently selected WFS to provide freight forwarding handling services at Frankfurt Airport, Europe’s largest cargo airport.
