Petrovietnam Drilling and Well Service Corporation has signed a contract with Russian state oil and gas company Zarubezhneft for the provision of a jackup drilling rig.
The unnamed rig will be used for Zarubezhneft’s 2026 development drilling campaign at the Thien Nga-Hai Au field in Block 12/11 offshore Vietnam.
The contract is expected to last around 160 days, with operations scheduled to begin in October 2026.
The two companies have previously worked together, with Zarubezhneft using two PV Drilling rigs during its 2025 drilling campaign.
According to an April 2022 reserves assessment report, around 7.43bn cu m of gas are expected to be produced from the Thien Nga-Hai Au field and supplied to southeastern Vietnam.
PV Drilling said that, amid a recovering drilling market, it is expanding its presence in Malaysia, Brunei and Indonesia while continuing to secure leased rig supply for the Vietnamese market.
