Polish Shipping Association joins International Chamber of Shipping

The International Chamber of Shipping has welcomed the Polish Shipping Association as a full member, adding another national voice to its global shipowner network.

This membership gives the Polish Shipping Association access to ICS boards and committees, meaning Polish shipowners will now be directly involved in shaping international shipping policy. The discussions will cover major industry themes such as decarbonisation, safety, regulation and digitalisation.

The association brings together two national bodies — the Polish Shipowners’ Association and the Polish Shipping Companies Association — acting as a combined representation of Poland’s maritime sector.

With this addition, ICS further strengthens its position as a global platform for shipowners. It already represents more than 80% of the world merchant fleet through associations in over 40 countries and territories.

ICS Secretary General Thomas A. Kazakos highlighted the importance of international cooperation as shipping continues to face major regulatory and environmental changes.

From Poland, Maritime Shipping Association director Marcin Talwik described the move as an important milestone. He said it improves the international visibility of Polish shipowners and provides better access to industry networks, knowledge sharing and best practices.

He also underlined that it strengthens Poland’s position within global maritime discussions.

This step follows the Polish associations’ earlier entry into the European Community Shipowners’ Associations, continuing their gradual integration into key international maritime organisations.
