GEODIS is strengthening its air freight decision-making by teaming up with aviation data specialist Rotate, in a move aimed at making sense of an increasingly fast-moving and complex global cargo market.

At the heart of the partnership is access to Rotate’s Live Capacity and Air Demand platforms, which together give GEODIS a more complete picture of both sides of the air cargo equation: how much capacity is available, and where demand is actually building.

Live Capacity provides near real-time visibility into global air freight space, tracking passenger bellyhold, freighter and charter capacity on an hourly basis. It pulls together live aircraft positioning data across all carriers and airports, giving GEODIS a flight-level view of global supply. The platform also includes historical data going back to 2018, helping identify longer-term structural shifts rather than just short-term fluctuations.

On the demand side, Rotate’s Air Demand tool breaks down trade flows and market activity across more than 5,000 commodities, including high-growth segments like e-commerce and semiconductors. Updated monthly and supported by historical data stretching back to 2010, it gives a clearer read on how cargo demand is evolving across key global trade lanes.

Air cargo markets have become increasingly difficult to read in recent years, with capacity swings and demand shifts driven by geopolitics, supply chain disruptions and changing industrial flows. GEODIS is positioning this partnership as a way to stay ahead of those movements rather than simply reacting to them.

Rotate said the combination of both tools creates a more complete, end-to-end understanding of the market, linking what is happening in the skies with what is happening in global trade demand in near real time.

From GEODIS’ side, the focus is on turning that data into faster and more informed decisions. Casper Hedemann, SVP Global Air Freight at GEODIS, said the air cargo environment is becoming more dynamic and requires a more structured, data-led approach.

He added that the value of the collaboration goes beyond the data itself, pointing to the close working relationship with Rotate’s team as an important part of strengthening how GEODIS interprets and responds to market changes.
