After more than 20 years of service within DHL Group, Chief Financial Officer Melanie Kreis has announced that she will not seek an extension of her current contract, which runs until 31 May 2027. In preparation for this transition, the Supervisory Board of Deutsche Post AG, DHL Group’s listed parent company, has appointed Joe Joseph as the company’s next Chief Financial Officer, effective 1 June 2027.
Joseph currently serves as CFO of DHL Express and brings more than 28 years of experience within the organisation. Throughout his career, he has held a variety of senior finance positions across the Middle East, Asia and Europe before assuming his current role in 2014.
Katrin Suder, Chairperson of the Supervisory Board of Deutsche Post AG, praised Kreis for her significant contribution to the Group’s development over the past two decades. She highlighted her strategic vision, financial expertise and commitment to long-term value creation, all of which have helped strengthen DHL Group’s position globally.
Suder also expressed confidence in Joseph’s appointment, noting that his extensive experience leading the financial operations of DHL Express provides a strong foundation for ensuring continuity and further advancing the Group’s disciplined financial strategy.
DHL Group Chief Executive Officer Tobias Meyer echoed those sentiments, describing Kreis as a key architect of the company’s financial performance, resilience and corporate culture. He noted that under her leadership, DHL maintained a disciplined financial approach that delivered stable or increasing dividends for ten consecutive years while also generating shareholder value through share buyback programmes.
Meyer added that Joseph’s deep understanding of the organisation and its operations positions him well to continue strengthening DHL Group’s financial strategy in the years ahead.
For her part, Kreis said the early announcement allows ample time for a smooth and well-organised transition process. She welcomed Joseph’s appointment, describing him as an experienced and trusted successor with whom she has worked closely for many years.
She expressed confidence that the company’s finance function will remain in capable hands and emphasized that the transition plan has been designed to ensure stability and continuity across the organisation.
Joseph will officially assume responsibility for DHL Group’s finance operations after Kreis hands over her duties in June 2027, marking the beginning of a new chapter for one of the world’s leading logistics and express transportation companies.
