Lufthansa Cargo has presented its winter schedule 2026/27 to its customers with a network of 88 freighter routes to 40 destinations worldwide. The new schedule begins on October 25, 2026, and tickets will go on sale October 4, 21 days before the season kicks off.
India is a key player in the network changes. Lufthansa Cargo has been shifting its freighter operations from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport, Mumbai (BOM) to Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMI) since October 12. The relocation is part of infrastructure upgrades at BOM to improve its capacity and operational efficiency. The new NMI, which is about 30 km east of the existing Mumbai airport, began domestic operations last year.
The move will provide international connectivity to the region’s major industrial and manufacturing centers, said Lufthansa Cargo. SWISS WorldCargo now serves Bangalore (BLR) to/from Zurich, which also bolsters the Lufthansa Group’s broader network connectivity with Southern India.
“India is an important growth market for Lufthansa Cargo in a strategic sense. “By connecting Navi Mumbai as well, we ensure our customers benefit from a high-performance infrastructure, reliable capacity and smooth integration into our global network,” said Ashwin Bhat, CEO, Lufthansa Cargo.
Asia-Pacific gains additional freighter capacity
Across Asia-Pacific, Lufthansa Cargo will operate up to 46 weekly freighter rotations serving 17 destinations. One of the main changes is the addition of Singapore (SIN) to the existing Frankfurt (FRA)–Taipei (TPE) rotation, creating a new intra-Asian route with main-deck freighter capacity within the region.
Several services introduced or expanded during the summer schedule will continue into winter. The transpacific route from Frankfurt via Ho Chi Minh City (SGN) and Shanghai (PVG) to Los Angeles (LAX) will retain its increased frequency, operating on two days out of seven. Additional Frankfurt services to Taipei and Chengdu (CTU) will also continue, each operating three days out of seven.
Cargo transportation between Almaty (ALA) and Frankfurt will resume as well, restoring another connection within the carrier’s international network.
US frequencies increase while the Americas network remains stable
Lufthansa Cargo’s Americas network will retain its existing structure, covering 11 destinations in North America and four in South America. The South American destinations will continue to benefit from four weekly connections.
Seasonal capacity adjustments will nevertheless bring additional flights to three US gateways. Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW) will increase to four weekly connections, Houston (IAH) to three and New York (JFK) to five.
European freighter operations consolidate
Within Europe, Lufthansa Cargo’s B777F fleet will operate up to three weekly freighter rotations, serving up to three destinations. The short-term services from Frankfurt to Larnaca (LCA), Istanbul (IST) and Stavanger (SVG) have now become permanent components of the winter schedule.
Meanwhile, the destinations previously served by A321F freighters will be covered by long-haul freighters or the Lufthansa Group’s passenger network until a new operator is found for the four short- and medium-haul freighters.
Passenger network adds further cargo opportunities
Additional belly cargo capacity will come from changes elsewhere in the Lufthansa Group. Lufthansa Airlines will serve Kuala Lumpur (KUL) five times a week, bringing the Malaysian city into its passenger aircraft cargo network. From November, ITA Airways will also introduce Santo Domingo (SDQ), in the Dominican Republic, to its long-haul schedule, with two weekly flights.
Bhat said the upcoming winter timetable would maintain Lufthansa Cargo’s strong position in connections to, from and within Europe. Approximately 7,500 flights to 350 destinations through the group’s six European hubs—Frankfurt, Munich, Vienna, Brussels, Rome and Zurich—will remain available to customers.
“True to our mission, ‘Enabling Global Business,’ we will continue to flexibly align our route network with the needs of our customers and changing business flows,” he added.
Beyond its dedicated freighter operations, Lufthansa Cargo also markets cargo capacity aboard passenger flights operated by Lufthansa Airlines, Austrian Airlines, Brussels Airlines, Discover Airlines, ITA Airways, Lufthansa City Airlines and SunExpress. This combination of freighter and passenger services continues to underpin the carrier’s global cargo offering for the 2026/27 winter season.
