FedEx has significantly enhanced its healthcare logistics capabilities in the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region by expanding its Korea Life Science Center located in Gimpo, South Korea. The facility, now three times larger with a total area of 2,288 square meters, offers five temperature-controlled zones ranging from -150°C to 25°C, ensuring compliance with strict pharmaceutical cold chain regulations.

Infrastructure Tailored to Healthcare Needs

Certified under Korea Good Supply Practice, the center is designed to handle both domestic and international shipments of temperature-sensitive items, including investigational medicinal products, biological samples, and biopharmaceuticals.

Supporting the Rapid Growth of the Healthcare Sector

This expansion aligns with the strong growth of the healthcare sector in Asia-Pacific, driven by infrastructure investments, technological advancements, and demographic shifts. Kawal Preet, President of FedEx Asia Pacific, highlighted the company’s commitment to leveraging its global network and healthcare expertise to support this growth.

With a network of specialized Life Science Centers in key locations such as Singapore, Tokyo, Mumbai, Memphis, and Veldhoven, along with over 130 cold-chain facilities worldwide, FedEx ensures consistent temperature control and reliable transportation for healthcare shipments.

Recognition for Logistics Innovation

FedEx’s commitment to innovation in clinical supply chain logistics was recognized with the ‘Innovation in Clinical Supply Chain Logistics’ award at the Korea Biopharma Excellence Awards 2024. This accolade underscores the company’s role in enhancing the efficiency and reliability of global healthcare supply chains.

Conclusion

With this strategic expansion, FedEx continues to play a leading role in healthcare logistics in Asia-Pacific, supporting the sector’s growing demands while maintaining high standards of quality and reliability.
