Afcom Holdings has reported a strong beginning to the 2026-27 financial year, with profit after tax increasing by 86% year-on-year to ₹392.4 million for the quarter ended June 30, 2026.

Operating revenue of the cargo carrier rose to ₹1,761 crore, up 48% from ₹1,189 crore in the year-ago quarter. Total income also rose sharply to ₹1.775 billion as against ₹1.191 billion in Q1 FY2025-26.

Profit before tax rose to ₹522.3 million from ₹308.9 million in the year-ago period. Earnings per share increased to ₹14.16 from ₹8.48.

The improved financial performance comes as Afcom prepares to expand its freighter capacity and enhance its international network. The carrier is looking to grow its presence in international air cargo markets and is seeking regulatory approval to add new destinations such as Singapore.

Costs go up with expansion

Afcom’s total expenses increased to ₹1.253 billion in the quarter from ₹882.1 million in the same period last year.

The major portion of the increase was in direct expenses which increased from ₹620.3 million to ₹1.096 billion. Total employee benefit expenses rose to ₹35.1 million from ₹33.3 million.

Finance costs, however, moved in the other direction, to Rs 37.1 million from Rs 45.9 million.

Afcom is reaping the benefits of increased revenues and improved profitability as it pushes ahead with its fleet and network expansion plans. The carrier’s increased focus on extra freighter capacity and new international routes is intended to position it for further growth in the ever more competitive air cargo market.
