ASA World has announced that its Director-General, Dr Waleed Youssef, will step down after leading the organisation for around a year and a half.
He will remain in the role during a six-month transition period to help ensure a smooth handover while the association looks for his successor.
Since joining ASA World in early 2025, Youssef has worked to strengthen the organisation’s position within the aviation industry. During his time in charge, the association expanded its cooperation with major aviation organisations and increased its involvement in discussions on safety, regulations and ground handling standards.
Reflecting on his time at ASA World, Youssef said he was proud of the progress made in giving the ground handling sector a stronger voice across the global aviation community.
ASA World Chairman Hassan El-Houry thanked Youssef for his leadership, saying the association is now in a stronger position and better recognised across the industry. The search for a new Director-General is already underway.
