Saudi shipping company Bahri is preparing to venture into the offshore support vessel (OSV) market with the delivery of its first two vessels from Dubai-based Grandweld Shipyard. The newbuilds are due to be delivered in August 2026 and the company is expanding into marine support services.
The vessels are specifically designed for Ras Tanura Port, on Saudi Arabia’s Gulf coast, one of the Kingdom’s most important energy export hubs. The port is a gateway to major facilities including Saudi Aramco’s Ras Tanura Terminal, the Juaymah Crude Terminal and the Juaymah LPG Terminal, which recently restarted cargo operations after a four-month halt due to the Iran conflict.
The building of the two offshore support vessels took 12 months and was delivered at Grandweld’s Dubai Maritime City shipyard. It will be delivered at some point next month.
The vessel order was announced by Bahri in October 2025, with an estimated value of SAR 18 million (~US$4.5 million), but the shipbuilder was not named at the time.
The investment gives Bahri its first presence in the offshore support segment, allowing the company to service offshore oil and gas platforms and marine construction projects.
The expansion is consistent with Bahri’s long-term approach to diversify its business from traditional shipping activities into complementary maritime sectors with high growth potential, the company said.
