Cathay Cargo and Air Cargo Week (ACW) have opened registration for an industry webinar focused on the growing opportunities for transporting perishables into China’s Greater Bay Area (GBA).
Scheduled for 20 August 2026 at 4 p.m. Hong Kong time, the webinar, titled “Cathay Cargo & ACW Present : Moving Perishables into China’s Greater Bay Area,” will bring together specialists from the aviation, logistics and government sectors to examine how businesses can access one of Asia’s most dynamic food markets through Hong Kong.
With around 86 million consumers and increasing demand for premium imported food, the GBA offers significant potential for exporters, freight forwarders and logistics providers handling fresh, chilled and temperature-sensitive products.
Hong Kong as a gateway to Southern China
The session will focus on the logistics solutions available for moving perishables from international origins into Southern China while maintaining freshness and product quality throughout the supply chain.
Participants will examine how Hong Kong’s air-land, air-air and air-sea connectivity, combined with advanced cold-chain infrastructure and the Fresh Lane, can facilitate faster and more efficient access to the GBA.
The discussion will also address changing supply-chain requirements, rising demand for imported perishables and the commercial opportunities available to companies seeking to expand their presence in the region.
Industry and government experts to join
The webinar will bring together several specialists with direct experience in the region’s air cargo and perishables supply chain.
Speakers include Sandy Kwan, Assistant General Manager, Aviation Logistics at Airport Authority Hong Kong; Calvin Leung, Divisional Commander (Air Cargo Research) at the Customs and Excise Department of the HKSAR; Sally Wong, General Manager Customer & Commercial at Cathay Cargo Terminal; and Frank Yau, Head of Cargo Sales HK & GBA at Cathay Cargo.
Together, they will explore how closer cooperation between airlines, airports, customs authorities and logistics providers can improve cargo flows, strengthen market access and help businesses respond to growing demand for premium perishables across the Greater Bay Area.
