Damen has expanded its presence in Latin America and the Caribbean with the opening of a new office in Panama, reinforcing its regional network and bringing the Dutch shipbuilding group closer to customers and partners in one of the world’s most important maritime hubs.
The new office is intended to strengthen local engagement while supporting the delivery of Damen’s maritime solutions and services throughout the region. The company said establishing a presence closer to the market will allow it to respond more effectively to regional requirements.
The Panama operation adds to Damen’s existing activities elsewhere in the Caribbean and Latin America.
The group operates a ship repair yard in Curacao and also runs Damex Shipbuilding & Engineering in Santiago de Cuba. Established in 1995, the Cuban operation builds and repairs vessels including tugs and workboats.
In Colombia, Damen maintains close ties with local shipbuilder COTECMAR in Cartagena. It also works with partners such as LINEAL Engineering in Barranquilla to support fleets operating across the region.
Damen Services Central America will operate within Panama’s Multinational Company Headquarters (SEM) licensing framework, a structure designed to facilitate and streamline regional logistics.
The new office will offer a broad range of services covering the operational lifecycle of vessels. These will include warranty services, technical assistance, drydocking support, docking assistance and the supply of spare parts.
Its activities will not be limited to Damen vessels. The regional operation will also support third-party ships across a range of maritime segments.
These vessels include tugs, workboats, ferries, dredgers and offshore support craft.
With the Panama office now added to its network, Damen is strengthening the regional infrastructure through which it provides repair, technical and lifecycle support to fleets operating throughout Latin America and the Caribbean.
